10 forecasts that promise to give a lot to talk about and decorate! this 2020. From the fever for the eco and natural, through Japandi or the revival of neutral tones to textured walls. A total of 10 trends that aim high this year.
1. JAPANDI: A COMBINATION OF EAST AND WEST
What if we mixed the timeless elegance of Japanese aesthetics with the modern flair of Scandinavian design? Japandi would pass, a hybrid trend that brings together the best of both styles and that promises to give a lot to talk about this 2020. This translates into elegant but warm interiors thanks to the rustic touch of the Nordic style. And punctually enriched with the color that the Japanese style provides and that will color the typical Scandinavian interiors so neutral.
2. WALLS WITH PERSONALITY
With moldings, wallpaper –wallpaper with a textile effect will continue to be strong this coming year–, with wood paneling, with geometric designs made with paint… The walls have ceased to be a mere support to become a very active part of the decoration of our houses. As a novelty, the composition will take a lot. That is, different walls in the same room, for example, some with wallpaper and others with paint.
3. NEUTRAL, THE COLORS OF TREND
The neutral ones are back, although they have never really left completely. But this year, as a novelty, they do it as trend colors. Especially one in particular: beige. If last year one of the revelation colors was greige, this 2020 prepare for an invasion of beige, which will fill the spaces of your home with peace, warmth and a serene connection with nature.
4. THE ECO IS CONSOLIDATED IN DECORATION
Natural, sustainable and with the minimum ecological footprint has long ceased to be a trend to consolidate itself as a lifestyle. And the decoration is no exception, with 100% organic textiles, recovered wood furniture, coverings made from natural materials, a large presence of vegetable fibers…
5. SCULPTURAL AND CURVED LAMPS
In line with this year, when we have seen a boom in natural fiber XL lamps, for this 2020 it is expected that lamps will continue to play a major role in decoration. But with a novelty: the curves will take. We will once again see the return of rounded and sinuous forms that generate a sensation of movement, dynamism and vitality inspired by art deco.
6. VELVET, PERMANENT
And it is that we have already been with velvet in decoration for a few seasons and this 2020 seems that it will still be with us, with its soft texture and shiny finish that dresses any space with elegance and luxury. Don’t be afraid to integrate it into modern environments: use it to upholster a special armchair and you’ll see how it transforms.
7. “PLASTIC-FREE” AND “ZERO WASTE”, TWO TRENDS THAT REACH DECORATION
Recover, recycle, reuse. The 3Rs are strongly imposed in the world of decoration. It is not only about recovering disused furniture to give it another life or even use, but to reduce as much as possible the plastic in our homes in favor of cloth bags, natural fiber rugs, wooden furniture, bamboo utensils. in the kitchen, ceramic and glass containers…
8. ALL-IN-BLACK KITCHENS
We have seen it during this year, but black is consolidated as a firm bet for the most modern kitchens. Not only in furniture, but also in countertops, sinks, appliances and taps. Too risky? You can bet only on giving a touch of black, either only with the countertop or with the taps or the sink.
9. WARM MINIMALISM
Come back less is more. The spaces are fluffed up and stripped of superfluous furniture that eats up space to stay with few and chosen pieces, either because of their design or their versatility in multipurpose spaces. The decoration is in line with the minimalist philosophy that gurus of order such as Marie Kondo have instilled.
10. METALS ARE STILL IN FASHION
We will continue to see them both combined with pieces of furniture and integrated into the architecture of the house to separate environments, in decorative lamps, in mirror frames… Beyond the black finish, we will continue to coexist with gold, copper and rose gold finishes.
Some new, others as a revival and a few that remain from the previous year. This is how the decoration trends are presented for this 2020. Are they going to be fulfilled or not?
